Oxygen carrier preparation & Characterization.


A state of the art on oxygen carriers performance and a database will be firstly organized. Fe, Ni, Mn to realize the oxygen carriers will be bought from Sigma Aldrich and will represent the biggest investment in the project. After training from CSIC, I will prepare and characterize different oxygen carriers to be used in chemical looping combustion tests through impregnation, mechanical mixing, granulation (D1.1). After training. Characterization of oxygen carriers will be done through pressurized PTGA, X-ray diffraction, BET and SEM (D1.2). XRD analysis will be used to understand the bulk structure of the oxygen carrier and the state of oxidation and reduction of the used metals. BET analysis will be used to assess oxygen carrier porosity. SEM and EDS analysis will be used to visualize the structure of the oxygen carrier and trace elements composition.
